NYS Alumnus Accepted to Harvard Divinity - 5/13/06:
I am pleased to announce that one of our own, Brianna Giacoia, has been
accepted into Harvard Divinity's two-year Master of Theological Studies
program. Brianna's current school, St. Bonaventure University posted a
nice article about her

All who have
been active in NYS FCCLA recently will surely know who Brianna is. She
served as NYS FCCLA Newsletter Editor '01-02, National FCCLA VP of
Individual Programs '02-03, NYS FCCLA Assistant Junior Leader Trainer
'03-04, NYS FCCLA Junior Leader Trainer '04-05, and NYS FCCLA Assistant
State Officer Trainer '05-06.
On behalf of NYS
FHA/FCCLA A&A, I would like to thank Brianna for her many years of
service and wish her the best of luck on the new adventures awaiting her
at Harvard.

Notes from the
Coordinator - 3/15/06:
Greetings everyone! Yes, it has been a LONG time since we've had some "action"
in New York's Alumni & Associates, I admit it... but we are still hearing from
many, many past members and others who are interested in continuing the support
of New York State Family, Career & Community Leaders of America. This truly
makes me feel good that you are out there and still keeping in touch.
As you can probably imagine, I have been super-busy with many personal and
professional projects, as many of us have. But, we all have FCCLA programs and
support in our minds every day, which is great. And of course, one of our
favorite times of year is fast approaching... State Meeting!! This year's
festivities will be held in Binghamton at the Regency Hotel from April 6-8. I
hope I will be seeing many of you there, even if it's for a day, a meal, or all
weekend. This year's theme is "FCCLA -- Maximum Overdrive", and all can
be assured of a great program planned by the 2005-06 State Officers!
Now to our
parts of the Meeting:
1) This year, being an "even" year, means that Alumni & Associates Officers will
be newly elected for a two year term for 2006-08. There are five available
positions within the NYS A&A organization: Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator,
Secretary, Financial Officer, and Newsletter Editor. I have heard from several
folks wondering how they can become more involved in both the state organization
and A&A... this is your chance!! My hope is that there are folks out there that
have the desire and the drive to bring fresh, exciting ideas to the table, and
there's no better way than to serve as an Alumni & Associates Officer. Since
this notice about the A&A elections is running a tad late, you can drop me a
note at
fhaalumni@hotmail.com or
chris.tiffany@co.ontario.ny.us
with your interest in any one of the five Officer positions. You can also
nominate a fellow A&A member to one of these positions. I would need name, some
way to contact them (phone, e-mail, address, etc.), and your name (the
"nominator"... ooh, that sounds cool!). Nominations may also be made at the
Annual Meeting for Alumni & Associates at State Meeting. Think about it and let
me know ASAP so I can have a preliminary ballot prepared for Binghamton.
2) Janet Stout, STAR Events Coordinator, has asked me to ask A&A members (and
guests) if they would be interested in being an Evaluator for the many STAR
Events that will be taking place during State Meeting.
HERE is a link to the Evaluator
Application on the State Meeting STAR Events page. They would like to fill out
if you are interested in helping out. Please contact Janet at
dstout9@bluemoon.net for more information, or to drop her a line
letting her know that you are interested.
3) Of course, we're always looking for additional "behind the scenes" help all
over the place... if you can lend a hand during any part of State Meeting,
please let Peg know at
nysfha@aol.com.
4) Each year, Alumni & Associates members are welcome to bid on baskets brought
by each districts' advisers that are placed in the Adviser Silent Auction. This
year, I would like A&A to submit a basket to this cause. All money that is bid
on these baskets are donated back to the State Association. If you can help me
out by bringing even one item from your region (it can be just about
ANYTHING!!), please e-mail me at either one of the above e-mail addresses (put
in the Subject line, "FCCLA Silent Auction") and bring it with you to State
Meeting. If you cannot attend and want to donate an item, please let me know and
I will arrange for pickup. Thanks!!
I think that's about it... consider everything that I've mentioned above,
plus registration forms and more to be on the
State Meeting page of the State
FCCLA website, and get involved!!
Hope to see you in a few short weeks in Binghamton!!
